The Unfurling of Surprise

It gives great pause for thought and wonder to learn that the powerful forces of a supernova explosions created the elements that comprise the morning glory. And it was in the 1920s that we learned that the light of the sun that the morning glory depends on for photosynthesis comes from nuclear fusion reactions whereby the sun transforms 4 million tons of hydrogen into light every second. Could there be anything more astonishing? As I listen and study carefully the new story and recognize the remarkable creativity found in the history of the earth and cosmos, we find hope that a change in human consciousness can emerge.
