Within the past two centuries there have been many remarkable discoveries that change some fundamental assumptions in our western worldview, resulting in what Thomas Berry has called the New Story. On several occasions when I was awakened and excited by a new insight, I painted a watercolor seeking to express the great importance and excitement for me of what I had learned. Sometimes I used traditional images that carry the same or closely related meaning to the new insight. Some paintings are illustrations. Several paintings, particularly in the second series of paintings called the Beauty of the Natural World, seek to capture the great beauty of the natural world. The third section is about the creativity that is integral to the earth and to our being. The entire series speaks to the fundamental importance of the change in worldview for our culture and for individuals.
